A fraudulent recruitment campaign falsely claiming to be affiliated with the Jazzablanca festival is targeting women online seeking work as staff members.
Multiple victims flagged the fake offer online, saying they were asked to submit full-body photographs through private messaging apps as part of the application process.
The scam, listed on LinkedIn and other hiring platforms, advertised positions including security agents, hosts, waiters, and organizational staff, and promised a daily wage of 1,000 dihrmas for the full ten-day duration of the event. All positions were listed women only.
Applicants were initially told that the company cannot open submitted CVs or photos due to “storage issues,” and were directed to WhatsApp or LinkedIn messages, where they were requested to resend their documents along with a full-body photograph, according to multiple testimonies.
Seven PM, the sole company recruting for Jazzablanca said it had reported the fraud to LinkedIn.
“It is a fake account and a fake job announcement, ” the company told Hespress EN in a statement.
“All recruitment related to the festival is handled internally by Seven PM, which has its own HR department. Any official opportunity or staffing process would therefore come directly through Seven PM’s official channels,”
The case blew open after a Moroccan content creator shared her experience on TikTok May 27, explaining how she was targeted by the scam. The video prompted dozens of women to come forward with similar accounts, with several supporting offering testimonies on the video’s comment section.
One victim, who requested anonymity, said she grew suspicious before sending additional photos. “If I hadn’t stopped when I did, I don’t know where this could have led,” she told Hespress EN.
Morocco’s cybercrime law, Law No. 07-03, criminalises online fraud and the fraudulent collection of personal data, with penalties of up to five years’ imprisonment.
