Es-Semara Embodies the Care for Spiritual Heritage: A Symposium at the Sheikh Ma El Ainin Zaouia Highlights Prophetic Values to Strengthen National Cohesion

In the context of celebrations marking the 1st anniversary of the Day of Unity in the Es-Semara province, the Sheikh Ma El Ainin Zaouia hosted on Thursday, October 22, 2026, a scholarly symposium titled “Values and Ethics in the Biography of the Prophet.” The event was dedicated to invoking Prophetic values, exploring their educational and social dimensions, and highlighting their role in consolidating religious and national constants while fostering social cohesion.

Organized by the Local Scientific Council of Es-Semara Province in partnership with the Provincial Delegation of Islamic Affairs, this initiative falls under the framework of preserving the region’s spiritual and religious heritage—a key component of the overall celebration program. It aims to value the scientific and spiritual status of Zaouias in the Moroccan Sahara, commemorating their historical contribution to preserving the Holy Quran, promoting knowledge, and spreading values of moderation and noble morals.

The symposium was attended by the Governor of Es-Semara Province, Ibrahim Boutoumilat, accompanied by an official delegation comprising elected officials, sheikhs, and dignitaries of Sahrawi tribes, as well as civil and military figures, within the premises of this Zaouia, which holds a prominent place in the religious and intellectual memory of the Sahrawi people.

The event commenced with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by welcoming remarks from the Zaouia’s custodian, Nema Ennawa. He highlighted the landmark’s ongoing role in safeguarding religious and educational heritage, preserving the Holy Quran, and nurturing generations on high moral grounds. The program also featured a collective Quranic recitation and devotional praises (amdah), casting a spiritual ambiance over the gathering.

In his keynote address, Mohamed Salem Babouzeid, President of the Local Scientific Council of Es-Semara Province, emphasized the significance of the symposium’s topic in drawing upon the Prophet’s biography as a source of guidance and values across all walks of life. He also highlighted the continuous care bestowed by King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, upon the noble Seerah and the integration of its values within society.

The scientific program featured three academic presentations addressing the Prophet’s biography and its practical applications in religious, educational, and social spheres:

* First Presentation: Delivered by El Housseine Ait Said, member of the Supreme Scientific Council, titled “A Reading into the Content of the Royal Message Celebrating the 15th Century Since the Birth of the Prophet (PBUH).” He shed light on the scientific and spiritual significance of the Royal Message, emphasizing the importance of drawing inspiration from Prophetic guidance to reinforce moral and religious values.

* Second Presentation: Delivered by Maymoun Barich, Professor of Higher Education at the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences in Marrakech, titled “Educational Applications of Prophetic Values in the Seerah and Their Impact on Preserving National Cohesion.” The presentation highlighted ways to utilize Prophetic values in promoting civic education, strengthening community integration, and safeguarding national constants.

* Third Presentation: Delivered by Abdelrahman El Amrani, Professor at the same faculty, titled “The Prophetic Biography and the Consolidation of Governing Values for Building a Muslim Family.” He underscored the educational and ethical foundations provided by the Seerah for establishing families based on affection, mercy, and mutual respect.

The symposium concluded with the reading of a message of loyalty and allegiance to King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, offering prayers to Almighty God to preserve and assist Him, grant Him joy through Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, strengthen His bond through His brother Prince Moulay Rachid, and all members of the Royal Family, and bestow enduring security and stability upon the Kingdom of Morocco.
