Es-Smara Unveils Program for the 1st Anniversary of ‘Unity Day’ Amid Broad Institutional Mobilization

Ibrahim Boutoumilat, Governor of Es-Smara Province, chaired a broad consultative meeting on Monday morning at the Reception Center’s Conference Hall. The gathering was dedicated to announcing the main outlines of the program for celebrating the first anniversary of “Unity Day,” highlighting its core themes and initiatives aimed at showcasing the province’s historical and cultural heritage while boosting its economic and cultural profile.

The meeting was attended by the Brigadier General, Commander of the Military Garrison, the President of the Provincial Council, alongside local elected officials, representatives of security and external services, as well as tribal elders, notables, and civil society actors. This comes as part of a comprehensive local effort to ensure the success of this national occasion.

The proceedings opened with a recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, followed by the national anthem and a documentary film reflecting on key moments from the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the Glorious Green March.

In an orientation address on the occasion, the Governor emphasized that commemorating the first anniversary of Unity Day serves as a pivotal moment to reaffirm pride in the Kingdom’s territorial integrity, recall national achievements, and highlight Es-Semara’s rich historical, spiritual, and developmental potential within the broader momentum taking place across the Southern Provinces under the enlightened leadership of King Mohammed VI.

The official stressed the necessity for the celebrations to reflect Es-Smara’s prominent historical and spiritual stature. He urged stakeholders to move beyond a merely ceremonial approach toward building an integrated vision for cultural and economic development—one that leverages local assets and reinforces the province’s position within the region’s ongoing economic and strategic transformations.

In the same context, the Governor highlighted the importance of the Royal Atlantic Initiative in strengthening the Southern Provinces’ connectivity to their African depth. He pointed to the promising prospects offered by the Amgala crossing in facilitating trade and regional links, alongside hydro-agricultural development projects acting as key drivers for socio-economic progress in the province.

For his part, Sidi Mohamed Salem labihi, President of the Provincial Council of Es-Smara, affirmed the importance of continued joint institutional work and synergy between local authorities, elected councils, and key partners. He noted that this collaboration supports development initiatives, meets population expectations, and fosters the active involvement of all stakeholders in national projects and major events.

In another intervention, Mohamed Fadel Ammari, Vice President of the Municipal Council of Es-Smara, underlined the event’s role in enhancing territorial marketing and promoting the province’s historic, cultural, and spiritual assets. He noted that the celebration provides valuable opportunities to expand Es-Semara’s reach regionally, nationally, and internationally, while supporting parallel diplomacy.

El Hanafi Eladli, General Coordinator of the Celebration Program, presented an overview of the event’s framework and core themes. He detailed a diverse program featuring academic, intellectual, cultural, agricultural, spiritual, and sports activities designed to showcase the unique identity of the province.

The meeting concluded with a renewal of the Green March Pledge and prayers for King Mohammed VI, wishing peace, security, and stability for the Kingdom of Morocco.

Is there a specific platform or format (e.g., social media summary, formal news bulletin) you would like me to adapt this for?
