The Spanish newspaper Marca praised the impressive performances of Moroccan international Yasser El Zoubiari with Racing Santander, after he scored his seventh goal in the first eight matchdays of the Spanish league, matching the goal tallies of Lamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappé, and Sergio Camello.
The Moroccan striker continued his stellar form by finding the back of the net against Valencia on Sunday, confirming his strong start with his new club, which he joined on loan from French side Stade Rennais, quickly establishing himself as one of the team’s primary attacking threats.
The Spanish daily explained that El Zoubiari has integrated rapidly with Racing Santander, asserting himself as an offensive focal point after a remarkable start to the competition. He scored a hat-trick against Elche, a brace against Alavés, and a goal against Barcelona at Camp Nou, before adding his seventh goal against Valencia.
With this tally, El Zoubiari is now tied with Lamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappé, and Sergio Camello in the top scorers’ race, which is led by Raphinha with 12 goals, according to Marca.
The same source added that the Racing Santander management is not ruling out making an offer to Stade Rennais—who hold the player’s contract—to secure priority in retaining his services, given his exceptional performances since the beginning of the season.
El Zoubiari previously caught the eye during the U-20 World Cup, finishing as the tournament’s top scorer as the Moroccan national team claimed the title. He also recently made his debut for the senior national team during the current international break.
