The Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Brussels hosted a reception on Thursday, October 29, to mark the first anniversary of Unity Day. Established by King Mohammed VI to commemorate the Kingdom’s national and territorial unity, this day is celebrated annually on October 31.<\/p>\n

The event was attended by some 300 guests, including the Director of the Cabinet of King Philippe, political, intellectual, and diplomatic figures, civil society actors, as well as members of the Moroccan community residing in Belgium\u2014particularly students, community leaders, and Moroccan professionals from various fields.<\/p>\n

The occasion served as a celebration of the first anniversary of the adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797 on October 31, 2025. This resolution marked a major milestone in the international dynamic aimed at achieving a political solution to the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara, based on the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative.<\/p>\n

In a speech delivered on this occasion, Mohammed Ameur, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Belgium and Luxembourg, highlighted the historical and symbolic dimensions of this national holiday, recalling the sacrifices made by the Moroccan people in defense of their territorial integrity and the historical epic of the Green March.<\/p>\n

Ameur also reviewed the diplomatic achievements attained by the Kingdom under the enlightened leadership of King Mohammed VI, as well as the developmental dynamic underway in the southern provinces across economic, social, and infrastructural levels, which has strengthened their position as a promising hub for investment and development.<\/p>\n

The Moroccan ambassador emphasized that celebrating Unity Day in Brussels holds special significance, given the friendly and cooperative relations uniting the two kingdoms, alongside the importance of dialogue and mutual understanding in consolidating them.<\/p>\n

In this regard, the diplomat commended Belgium\u2019s support for the Moroccan autonomy proposal and its interest in the transformations taking place in Morocco across various fields.<\/p>\n

He also praised the role played by the Moroccan community residing in Belgium as a human and cultural bridge between the two countries, through their contribution to the development of their homeland and their active integration into Belgian society, while preserving their national identity and transmitting the values of unity, belonging, and collective memory to younger generations.<\/p>\n

On the artistic front, the evening featured a musical program reflecting the richness and diversity of Moroccan heritage. Performances were given by the “Medina Swing” group from Casablanca, artist Zineb Afilal accompanied by the “Al Nahda” group from Brussels, and artist Hanane Madiyan accompanied by the chanters of the Chefchaouen Hadra. The performances blended contemporary musical creations with Andalusian heritage and the spiritual traditions of northern Morocco.<\/p>\n

The event concluded in an atmosphere of national pride and cohesion, embodying the role of culture as a bridge for communication between generations and a catalyst for strengthening ties of friendship and human rapprochement between Morocco and Belgium.<\/p>\n
